Furniture World News Desk on 7/29/2016

The golf outing has raised more than $6 million for charity in its 29-year history.

Bob’s Discount Furniture and Planned Furniture Promotions (PFP) recently announced that their 2016 golf outing raised over $600,000 for local Connecticut children’s charities. The money will benefit organizations carefully selected by Bob’s Discount Furniture’s Charitable Foundation and PFP, including the Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters, Family & Children’s Aid, Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, and Camp Rising Sun, a camp for children who have been diagnosed with cancer.

More than 450 participants took part in the July 19 event that included a round of golf at the Tunxis Plantation Country Club, along with an evening at The Farmington Club with dinner and an awards ceremony. The night featured both live and silent auctions, and Bob’s Discount Furniture co-founders Bob Kaufman and Gene Rosenberg emceed the live auction. Guests included Bob’s employees, Planned Furniture Promotions members, vendors, and partners.

“When Gene and I founded Bob’s Discount Furniture, one of our main goals was to develop a foundation to give back to the community,” said Kaufman. “I am so proud to see the continued support for the golf outing – it’s grown immensely since when it first started.”

The golf outing has raised more than $6 million for charity in its 29-year history. The annual event was started by Planned Furniture Promotions, a leading home furnishings sales promotion company founded by Rosenberg. Bob’s Discount Furniture became an event partner in 1991, when Kaufman and Rosenberg started the company.

“It’s great to see both familiar and new faces each year as the golf outing continues to grow,” said Rosenberg. “The generous support from our partners and guests has helped us stay true to our mission to give back to the local community.”
