Bunakara Teams Up With JDouglas

Furniture World News Desk on 6/15/2016

Bunakara recently announced that it has teamed up with the JDouglas showroom, which features some of the most prestigious home accents lines offered at The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market held July 12 to 19. The Portuguese company just completed its highly successful, international debut in the U.S. marketplace in April.

“JDouglas very carefully selects the brands that we will represent, choosing only the very best in design, matched with the ability to deliver quality products to retail stores and interior designers across the Southeast,” says Doug Self, founder of JDouglas. “We recognized immediately that the colorful and lively aesthetics of Bunakara are fresh and truly unique. It also is rare to discover a recently launched company that is stocking its full product line and able to ship products introduced here at the show from an East Coast warehouse.”

In addition, Marta Aranha, AIA, who is the daughter of Bunakara creator, Joana Aranha, will be on hand throughout the market to meet with customers and to provide deeper insight into product inspiration and the detailed craftsmanship of the products. Joana Aranha, an internationally known interior designer and a retail store designer, decided to launch the new company a year ago because in her global search for products for her interior design clients, there were many products that she looked for, but could not find.

Products that will be exhibited in Atlanta include furniture, home accents and textiles hand-crafted in India, using beautifully authentic materials such as acacia wood, cotton, linen, natural dyes and sand-cast brass. Each piece also features an unexpected signature detail such as an iconic single painted chair leg, a hidden message on the inner core of a pillow, an ornate sand-cast brass ferrule on a simple acacia table leg or an intricate hand-applied lace appliqué. All the pieces also feature Bunakara’s signature, a beaded Flower of India insignia.

“Bunakara means ‘weaver’ in Hindi and this is a line that weaves the history and the emotions in a mix of the past with the present,” says Dixon Bartlett, U.S. national sales and marketing director for Bunakara. “Bunakara is specially curated for retailers and designers who appreciate sophisticated, hand crafted design that is difficult to find today. From the soul of the artist that Joana is, through the hands of artisans, to the homes of those with a sophisticated artistic sense of style, Bunakara helps us all discover what can’t be found.”
