CHFA To Accept Retailers & Buying Groups As Affiliate Members

The Ontario-based Canadian Home Furnishings Alliance (CHFA) reported that at the Annual General Meeting of the association which was held on September 23, 2015, members voted in favour of adding two classes of membership to the organization; Retailers and Buying Groups.

Before this change there were three classes of membership: Active members (furniture and mattress manufacturers, importers), Affiliate members (suppliers to the industry) and Honourary members.

Retailers and the Buying Groups will have representation on the Board of Directors and voting rights. Potential retail and buying group members have already expressed an interest in becoming part of the CHFA.

At the same meeting the members approved the following slate of Board members for 2015 - 2016:

• Terry Clark, Acme Chrome Furniture Ltd.
• Dino Colalillo, Edgewood Furniture Limited
• Mike Dunlop, Serta International
• Jason Harris, Stylus Sofas Inc.
• Mike James, Owen & Company (Kingsdown)
• Rosita Ling, Ratana Home and Floral
• John Power, Mega Group Inc.
• Laine Reynolds, Superstyle Furniture
• Bill Zimmerman, Durham Furniture

The Officers of the association will be elected at the next Board of Directors' meeting. 

The CHFA Events Committee and Board of Directors also finalized the events program for 2016. The 2016 Events program will commence with the Toronto Winter Furniture Show (TWFS) which will run from Saturday, January 30th to Tuesday, February 2nd. The TWFS will be followed by the Canadian Home Furnishings Awards on Friday, May 27th.

The annual golf classic will return to Caledon Woods on Tuesday, August 16th.
