Furniture World News Desk on 8/26/2015

HomTex ramps up production of its innovative DreamFit sheeting products with a new manufacturing location and 50 skilled U.S. workers, to start.

Alabama-based HomTex Inc. announced that it continues expansion of its total production capacity with the leasing of a 24,000 square-foot plant in Waynesboro, Tenn., following the company’s late May announcement of a 300,000-square-feet facilities acquisition in its home state.

Working in partnership with Wayne County officials, a jobs fair held in June yielded 50 highly skilled workers for HomTex. Production in the new facility commenced following a July ribbon-cutting ceremony.

“Waynesboro presents a strategic opportunity for HomTex due to its strong labor pool,” says Jeremy Wootten, president, HomTex, who says the total number of jobs in the facility may double in a second wave of hiring. “The trained workforce allows us to scale quickly and respond to our growing production needs.”

Located in Waynesboro’s industrial park on U.S. 64, former occupants Tennessee Apparel company used the space as a cut and sew facility until late 2013, which allows the new tenant and home textiles manufacturing innovator to begin production here with minimal retrofitting required.

HomTex manufacturers and markets several brands of bed linens, sleeping pillows, mattress pads, duvets and other top-of-bed products boasting innovative features and 15 patents pending. Products are sold through specialty sleep retailers and the mass retail segment. Registered brand names include DreamFit®, Suprelle®, Dream Essence by FitRite®, Revive®.

The Waynesboro facility is dedicated to manufacturing DreamFit sheeting products.

HomTex additionally owns production and distribution facilities in North and South Carolina, and maintains offices in China and India. With the new leasing agreement, the manufacturer retains an option to purchase the Tennessee facility. Its trade showrooms are located in New York and Las Vegas.

About HomTex Inc.: HomTex ceo and founder Jerry Wootten started the company in 1987 on a quest to solve the problem of ill-fitting sheets for the evolving mattress product category. Wootten’s focus on innovation grew to include technical solutions for common sleep issues related to temperature control, moisture wicking and sleeping position, among others. The HomTex strategy includes aligning with fiber, yarn and components suppliers to invent production techniques and to create new designs. Under Wootten’s direction, HomTex, Inc. has grown to become a formidable competitor in the home textiles space, with 15 product patents pending.
