Furniture World News Desk on 5/26/2015

Bob’s Discount Furniture announced the opening of four new stores in the Greater Pittsburgh and Baltimore areas. Bob’s celebrated the four new locations by contributing over $50,000 to local charitable organizations and schools. Additionally, Bob’s announced the relocation of its Seabrook, N.H. store. After opening more than a dozen new stores during the past two years, Bob’s will now have 61 stores in 11 states across the East Coast and Mid-Atlantic regions, with additional expansion planned for 2016.

“Expansion for us doesn’t just mean new stores, it also means we’re expanding our philanthropic efforts,” said Bob Kaufman, president emeritus and co-founder of Bob’s Discount Furniture. “As we grow, we intend to continue supporting schools, charities and other worthwhile causes in each of the communities where our stores are located.”

As part of introducing the company into new communities, Bob’s works with local non-profit organizations and schools through the company’s Bob’s Outreach philanthropic program. Leading up to and continuing after the May 21 grand openings, Bob’s will be presenting Random Acts of Kindness checks totaling $50,000 to 35 local organizations.

“As we enter the Greater Baltimore and Pittsburgh areas, it is important to us to establish a partnership with the communities,” said Cathy Poulin, public relations director of Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We have already began working with UPMC St. Margaret and Johns Hopkins Hospital, and look forward to future opportunities to give back.”
