Thomasville of New Jersey Announces Launch of HOME INSPIRATIONS Thomasville Designed by Creative Strategist Jena Hall.

Furniture World News Desk on 1/29/2015

When the Massood family launched one of the first independent Thomasville® stores in 2000, they hoped to grow the chain up and down the Eastern seaboard. But with the many mergers, acquisitions, the 2008 recession and then the bankruptcy of Furniture Brands International , their original growth plans had been reduced to their current four-store status. Now, with new corporate ownership of the Thomasville brand, along with the new Heritage Home management team, the Massoods once again feel a new optimism motivating them to once again reinvest in the Thomasville name. But the industry has evolved since the Massoods first invested in the original requirements of a fully dedicated Thomasville format.

On January 28th, they unveiled their new prototype store; re-branded and re-merchandised to meet the demands of a changing consumer and competitive environment. Formerly known as Thomasville of New Jersey, the newly redesigned and remerchandised flagship store in Paramus will now be known as HOME INSPIRATIONS Thomasville.

“The new concept, designed by creative strategist and industry icon Jena Hall, will subsequently be rolled out across their other locations. The flagship store has been divided into two major departments; Small Spaces and Great Places™, which includes several areas featuring private label products along with Thomasville as the anchor brand “, said Hall. “As Thomasville continues to rebuild its product line and invest in its brand, we are hopeful that many of these new product directions will be produced by Thomasville. In the meantime, our goal is to provide decorating solutions that inspire consumers to use their spaces—large or small—in new, multi-functional ways.”

Each area of the flagship store is aimed at the specific neighborhood lifestyles and life stages of the diverse consumer base the stores serves. “We are spotlighting Thomasville products, our namesake brand, but we have inter-mingled these with a mixture of fun, fashion-forward pieces and decorating solutions,” Hall explains. “Since our stores have long focused on design services, we have merchandised the offering with an emphasis on personal customization under the banners: Have it Your Way and Custom, Just for You. Throughout the store, the focus is on providing inspiration through ideal products and decorating solutions for difficult spaces.”

The Small Spaces area targets the apartment and condo dweller with sophisticated, fashionable and multi-functional pieces. Great Places, on the other hand, presents ideas for decorating expansive spaces with style and a touch of panache for great rooms and larger master suites with walk-in closets typical of the upscale and spacious homes in our suburban areas. Each is accompanied by eye-catching and engaging themes like “Her Great Dream Bedroom,” and “His Great, Little Den,” with fun, memorable marketing strategies and playful signage designed to draw consumers in. The Chair-ishibiles™ display, for instance, features high-fashion upholstered dining chairs, stacked near the dining presentation so customers can create an individualized look in the dining room.

A small sample of the innovative merchandising concepts on display:

This Great Room (above) demonstrates how to capitalize on the larger spaces typically found in spacious Bergen County homes. Here, an 18x16, L-shaped wall system provides a custom look without the custom expense, and fits just as beautifully in a room with eight-foot ceilings, as it does in higher-ceilinged spaces. The fabulous Portofino sectional by Thomasville seats the entire family for the big game, while the trompe l’oeil fieldstone mural lends a rustic effect.

Her Great Dream Bedroom (above) recreates every woman’s fantasy of a beautiful and relaxing personal sanctuary. The theme focuses on an empty-nester remodel, recapturing space originally occupied by a child, now grown who has since left home and adding it to the master suite to create the ultimate bedroom space.

Chair-ishibles™ (above) allows customers to create an individualized look in the dining room and in other seating areas within in the home.
