Malouf Delivers Comfort for Breast Cancer Patients

Furniture World News Desk on 11/17/2014

This Fall, Malouf reported that it was thinking pink to bring awareness for breast cancer. While it wasn’t uncommon to see pink throughout their office and warehouse, raising awareness for breast cancer was more than wearing its banner color. Malouf contributed to the cause by donating a portion of its proceeds and delivering comfort in a unique, relevant way to those afflicted with breast cancer.

Stemming from personal experiences with family or friends undergoing difficult breast cancer treatment, Malouf employees recognized their unique position as a sleep product manufacturer and the opportunity to provide comfort. As a result, the Comfort Kit—a package full of comfortable things designed for a breast cancer patient—was born.

“With many people expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer during the year we knew we wanted to do something to help people in an individual way,” said Sam Malouf, the CEO at Malouf. “The Comfort Kits gave us the perfect opportunity to provide what we do best in a way that could impact the lives of people who truly need it.”

Malouf included one of its pillows in each kit, a handwritten note by an employee and coordinated with neighboring businesses to add blankets, socks, gift cards and jewelry. The Comfort Kits were delivered to the local mammography clinic where they are being delivered to every person who is diagnosed with breast cancer in their community during the year, estimated at nearly 100 people.

“We are so grateful for Malouf and what they’re doing to help make our newly diagnosed breast cancer patients have a little extra comfort at a time in their lives when they need it most”, said Holly Eggli, mammography imaging coordinator at Logan Regional Hospital. “Being told you have breast cancer and going through treatments is a life- changing situation. These Comfort Kits will help these patients know that there are many people who care about them.”
As stated, Malouf is also donating a portion of proceeds to a local non-profit organization that helps with the financial needs of qualified individuals needing assistance for cancer treatments.

Malouf officials said they plan to make Breast Cancer Awareness month an annual tradition. Malouf is also a national sponsor for LUNG FORCE, a campaign on lung health, participates in Movember, which drives awareness for men’s health, and commonly donates to women’s shelters, youth homes and other non-profit charities.
