Bob's Discount Furniture reported that to celebrate “Bob’s Discount Furniture $100,000 High School Heroes Scholarship Program,”the company has teamed up with the Boston Bruins and the Boston Celtics to sponsor a special American Red Cross super blood drive and free family event at TD Garden on January 20. Members of the community are invited to support this blood drive and enjoy a day of free family entertainment at TD Garden. Those who are eligible can join hundreds of blood donors expected to convene between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to help patients in need by donating blood.
“We are thankful to Bob’s Discount Furniture, the Boston Bruins and the Boston Celtics for supporting this unique community partnership and enabling generous volunteer blood donors to help patients by supporting this fun family event celebrating the $100,000 High School Heroes Scholarship Program,” stated Donna M. Morrissey, Director of Communications, American Red Cross – Northeast Division. “We hope that eligible blood donors will bring friends and family to TD Garden on January 20 to make a difference in the life of others.”
Other items to be given away to lucky winners include an autographed framed Boston Bruins Stanley Cup team photo and a piece of game used net, two team autographed sticks, a team autographed jersey and a Seguin autographed jersey, four loge tickets, a zamboni ride, four balcony tickets and high five experience. Lucky participants may win Boston Celtics home game tickets, autographed Celtics championship team basketballs, Celtics photographs and mini-basketballs autographed by various players. There is complimentary parking available on a first come-first serve basis in the North Station Garage (121 Nashua Street, Boston, MA) which is located underneath TD Garden.
All presenting blood donors and families can meet Bruins and Celtics legends, take photos with Bruins mascot “Blades” and enjoy appearances by the Bruins Ice Girls and the Celtics Dancers. Children will enjoy balloon animals; face painting and puppet show entertainment. Bob’s Discount Furniture will provide free ice cream, courtesy of New England Ice Cream, Co. Participating area high school bands and cheerleaders are scheduled to attend and entertain during the blood drive.
Bob Kaufman and Cathy Poulin of Bob’s Discount Furniture will make special guest appearances. In addition to sponsoring the event, Bob’s Discount Furniture is generously donating 24 recliners to be raffled off throughout the event. Bob’s Discount Furniture has donated the furniture to thank generous blood donors and also to support a sufficient blood supply for patients in need.
This family fun filled event is in celebration of the Fourth Annual Bob’s Discount Furniture High School Heroes $100,000 Scholarship Program. The Scholarship Program recognizes outstanding high school seniors in Massachusetts and Connecticut who have made exceptional contributions to their schools’ volunteer blood donor programs.

To celebrate National Blood Donor Month and help increase awareness about the need for blood, Dunkin’ Donuts and the Red Cross are teaming up for the sixth annual “Give a Pint, Get a Pound” campaign, which provides a coupon for a free pound of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee to all presenting donors at Red Cross blood drives in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Vermont during the month of January.
