Orange County Furniture Chain Buys Palm Desert Retailer Legacy Home Furnishings/ Rooms Express

Orange County-based Linder’s Furniture, the largest independent furniture retailer in Southern California, announced the purchase of Legacy Home Furnishings/Rooms Express in Cathedral City, Calif. Founded in 1991 by the Belinsky family, Legacy currently has two locations, one in Rancho Mirage and another in Cathedral City. A new 30,000-square-foot Connie Post designed showroom is also under construction in La Quinta. Founded more than 20 years ago in Torrance, Calif., by owner Phil Linder, Linder’s Furniture is a family-run operation with seven showroom locations throughout Southern California. The acquisition of Legacy makes Linder’s one of the top 80 furniture companies in the United States. “The merger of Linder’s and Legacy has made both our companies stronger,” said Linder’s President Eric Foucrier. “We managed to purchase an operation with values similar to our own in terms of customer service and quality. With our combined buying power we can now offer customers the greatest selection and best prices in furnishings anywhere in Southern California.” According to Foucrier, Legacy President and Owner Shelia Weinstock will continue active involvement in the company, and the more than 300 combined employees from both groups will conduct business as usual. Foucrier said the company is now looking to hire an additional 50 employees to help run the Coachella Valley operation. “We saw a tremendous opportunity to merge operations as well as fit into Legacy owner Arnold Belinsky’s retirement plans,” said Foucrier. “With the undeniable synergy between the two companies, Linder’s brings a new energy and infrastructure to the mix that can take us both to the next level.” In addition, Linder’s recently hired well-known Southern California radio personality and consumer electronics expert, Tom Campbell, as its company spokesperson and corporate director. With his expertise, Linder’s plans to be the first to integrate consumer electronics and furnishings into the home. Linder’s has showroom locations in Cerritos, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Laguna Hills, Los Angeles, Torrance and Westminster.
