American Upholstery (AU), the fabric division for design leader and leather furniture manufacturer American Leather, announces a simple solution to this spring’s cleaning needs. Now with the new space-saving design of the “Natalie” collection, consumers with even tight or small living spaces can add a home furnishings flair with less clutter. AU is the first in the industry to offer the smallest sofa dimensions possible to conceal the largest convertible bed in any size. In the “Natalie” a conventional queen size mattress fits inside a sleek 69-inch sofa, as opposed to the industry’s standard sofa sleeper which measures between 85 and 90 inches wide. The “Natalie” sofa sleeper with the patented Day & Night technology is now one of life’s necessities when it comes to organizing your clutter and simplifying your life. The dual functionality of a comfortable bed for guests hidden inside the simple small-scaled design of the “Natalie” sofa makes this collection the perfect solution for any room with space constraints. “This spring consumers have a wider selection of covers to choose from and can better customize this innovative design to their own personal tastes, styles and home spaces,” said Matthew Hayward, national sales manager for AU. “Ultimately, consumers will now be able to minimize clutter with American Upholstery’s sofa sleeper anywhere in the home – even in space-restricted areas.” As a collection of fashionable Day & Night sleepers, the “Natalie’s” new design allows consumers to enjoy a mattress with the same size dimensions as a conventional bed, now concealed inside a sleek, thin-armed sofa. The Day & Night sleeper is available from a king to cot, turning a study into a comfortable guest room for the in-laws, a reading chair into an extra bed for last-minute sleepovers and even a living area into an extra bedroom for smaller abodes. According to Hayward, the largest Natalie sofa is a slim 85 inches wide, and can accommodate a full 76 inches (width) by 80 inches (length) king-sized mattress – which is the standard size for any conventional king-sized mattress. Other dimensions include a 69-inch queen sofa with a 60” x 80” mattress; a 63-inch full sofa (52” x 80” mattress); a 48-inch twin sofa (39” x 80” mattress) and a 39-inch cot, featuring a 30” x 80” mattress. AU’s entire line offers a series of “life fabrics” – both Suede Life and Vee-Life fabrics - that expand the upholstery offerings to an every-day convenience for all consumers. Plus, for traditional, transitional and contemporary tastes, the 25 different fabrics in the AU line will compliment any consumer lifestyle as well as any room you might be tackling this spring. “AU has been one of our industry’s most successful roll outs of a new division,” said Hayward. “Since the April Market, AU has been added to 150 retail locations across the country. In addition, re-orders have been exceptional, with many key retailers telling us that the line has been one of their best new product introductions.” Hayward added that the AU division is supported by proprietary sales tools and systems that help the sales success of the line. For instance, many retailers boast an AU touch-screen kiosk that allows consumers to play with and change the color options on their furniture, on the spot. “The idea is to help simplify the consumer’s shopping experience – by empowering the consumer with all the information they need to make the purchase that day,” said Hayward. “AU has appealed to so many consumers because it has been branded as the “ideal” lifestyle line from the very beginning,” said Hayward. “We have worked hard to introduce fabrics, colors and frames that appeal to today’s busy consumer who also wants great styling and lots of choice. The AU line exemplifies a new thinking in home décor and lifestyle, and this collection brings all these elements together in a beautifully crafted collection.” For more information, visit the Web site at www.aufurniture.com.
