The Leather Research Laboratory has scheduled the first Leather Orientation Course of the year for April 20 - 21 at the University of Cincinnati. The Leather Orientation Course is designed specifically for the leather product manufacturing and use industries. Professionals involved in leather purchasing, product design, and quality control will benefit, together with chemical companies and newer tannery employees. This intensive seminar provides participants with the knowledge and understanding necessary to make strategic decisions on leather choice and performance specification development/compliance. Leather product designers and engineers representing the aircraft, automotive, furniture, garment, and personal leather goods industries will learn how leather is manufactured, how to evaluate its suitability for the intended end use, and how to comply with national and international consumer safety and labeling requirements. Through a combination of carefully developed classroom presentations and laboratory demonstrations, participants will find answers to questions that are critical to company reputation and profitability. Recent courses have been attended by organizations including Harley-Davidson, Wilson’s Leather, Bass Pro Shops, Fossil, QVC, Sears, Lear Corporation, Lands End, 3M, BASF, HSN (Home Shopping Network), NBC and even MIT. Registration cost is $895. A course agenda and registration can be found on-line at: www.leatherusa.org For more information, please contact Nick Cory. corynj@uc.edu or 513-242-6300.
