MAHOGANY REGULATIONS SEEN TO HAVE LITTLE IMPACT

Restrictions proposed by the Clinton administration that would require exporters to obtain permits and use onl CITES-approved ports, are seen by AFMA mahogany furniture producers as having little impact. "We only buy mahogany from managed forest agencies that promote reforestation and responsible forest management ," said Bill Sibbick of Stanley Furniture. According to a statement issued by the AFMA, that statement was echoed throughout the AFMA membership.
