The California Furniture Manufacturers Association (CFMA) will be sponsoring its Fall Seminar on Wednesday, September 23, 1998, at The Industry Hills Sheraton Hotel in the City of Industry, California. The breakfast program is entitled "Can Your Company Survive an OSHA Inspection?" The program begins at 8:00 AM and will conclude by 10:30 AM The seminar is designed to assist manufacturers in bringing their factories into compliance with OSHA regulations. The Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) recently fined one local furniture manufacturer $96,000 after an inspection. Another was fined $52,000, another $27,000 and another $11,000 for their violations. CFMA has scheduled the program to save manufacturers time, grief, and certainly a lot of money. The seminar will consist of a discussion conducted by a diversified panel of experts. On the panel will be an OSHA staff advisor, a loss control consultant, a representative from Fireman's Fund Insurance Companies, and a furniture manufacturer who was recently inspected. They will offer advice on how to make your factory compliant with OSHA, how to deal with inspections, and how to reduce fines. Each attendee will be given a checklist of actions to take back to the factory. This is a session that can save manufacturers thousands of dollars. CFMA consists of over 120 furniture manufacturers and suppliers throughout California. The association's mission is to educate, promote, and protect the interests of furniture manufacturing in California. CFMA leads the way in promoting legislation and regulations that govern the industry, and has also been active in assisting its members in expanding markets, and sponsors educational seminars.
