Rachel Ashwell At IFDA's April Design Seminar

Rachel Ashwell, founder of Shabby Chico, will be featured as guest speaker at IFDA'S April Design Seminar on Saturday, April 25, 1998. Ms. Ashwell's seminar topic will be "Relaxing the Rules." She was born in England and is credited by the home furnishings industry for introducing the concept of slipcover furniture to the United States. Shabby Chico's design sensibility is one of quiet elegance and high quality. The first Shabby Chico store opened in 1989 in Los Angeles. Clients include some of the world's most notable celebrities. In 1995 Shabby Chico entered the wholesale marketplace with Shabby Chico Fabrics. Since then, Shabby Chico has added an upscale bedding line called Shabby Chico Home, and she has opened fifteen "In Store" Shabby Chico Boutiques. In February of 1998, Shabby Chico introduced Shabby Chic Studio-, a value oriented furniture line geared to the mainstream consumer. Rachel published her first book Shabby Chico in July 1996, and in June, a second book will be published and distributed, Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic Treasure Hunting and Decorating Guide.
