High occupancy at the San Francisco Mart poses a challenge for leasing space, but for Winter Market 2000, the Mart is accommodating four new tenants. "We are very pleased with the caliber of manufacturers that will be new to the Mart," remarks Roseann Carini, senior vice president of leasing. As of December 3, the Mart can confirm four new tenants: Eclexion Designs –space 117-Mart 1; 4,800 square feet Furniture Classics, Ltd. –space 406-Mart 1; 1,012 square feet Premier Bedding Group –space 1001-Mart 2; 4,382 square feet Wooden Man –space 245-Mart 1; 1,571 square feet Eclexion Designs will be showing their massively scaled lifestyle furniture in their first floor showroom in Mart 1. Every piece of this handsome furniture is hand carved from start to finish by an individual craftsman, and is entirely finished front to back so that it can stand free in any room. The pieces are made from plantation grown Indonesian Agathis, a hardwood that is abundant and replenishable. Some pieces have a Neo-classical influence and others a Dutch Colonial feel, but most designs are influenced by Biedermeier. Wooden Man will be taking space on the 2nd floor of Mart 1 to show its handcrafted case goods constructed of reclaimed Douglas fir from the West and Northwest. Wooden Man focuses on purchasing older timbers (usually over 50 years old) that were milled to full dimension and left rough sawn. "Older wood has good character," says owner Steven Ingrassia. "It's naturally distressed." Ingrassia describes their style as a combination of American Primitive, Shaker and Ranch. Wooden Man offers more than 100 solid wood pieces that are assembled using traditional woodworking techniques and finished with one of 18 water based stains or multi-stage paint processes. Furniture Classics Ltd. will be a perfect complement to the fourth floor of Mart 1. The company imports dining sets, occasional tables and home accents from China, Egypt, Java and Romania. Products range from inexpensive teak furniture to hand carved, Italian gold leaf mirrors. "We are an eclectic mix of very high end style at very promotional price points," says Walter Nath, Western operations. "Our most popular items are those in our hand painted, antiqued category, as well as our Bombay style items."
