Stanley Furniture uses a rare find in youth furniture-cherry solids-to create a distinctive look for Sequence, the newest Young AmericaTM youth bedroom collection. "'The use of cherry solids and veneers puts a fresh twist on contemporary design, which is by far the most popular style category for youth bedrooms," says Kelly Cain, senior vice president of product development and merchandising. "You'll often see a finish that tries to mimic cherry over maple veneer, but the beautiful color and grain just aren't there. With its unusual upscale feel at a moderate price, Sequence adds a new look and great value to a line of furniture that already sets the standard for quality in kids' bedroom furnishings." A lighter, clear finish reminiscent of a light chestnut tone highlights the natural beauty of the cherry grain, especially on the solid cherry drawer fronts. With its simple, round brushed-nickel drawer pulls, the group has Shaker influences but a decidedly fresh feel. "Sequence is in keeping with the Stanley hallmark of offering groups with particular value as a long-term investment, one that suits a young child today but also for many years to come because the styling is classic, not trendy," says Cain. On the functional side, the true appeal of Sequence is its outstanding selection of study, computer and storage elements. A newly designed, 30-inches-wide-by-30-inches-talI computer storage piece has a pull-out keyboard and space for a PC tower. It fits in the wrap configuration that is standard to Young America's storage/study elements. A two-door entertainment unit version is offered as well. Sequence also features an exclusive free standing youth computer desk with an optional hutch designed for computer users, in addition to the standard student desk and hutch. "No one designs computer use and storage solutions for kids' rooms like Stanley does," Cain says. The most distinctive of several bed options is the sleigh bed. It takes the popular design of spindled head and footboards in a unique direction by steam-bending the spindles to follow the bed's flaring contour. Also included are several space-saving and storage-packed beds, like bunk beds, twin-over-twin and twin-over-full lofts, bookcase headboards and a captain's bed with under-bed storage drawers. A trundle unit is available as well. "More and more parents are selecting full-size beds for their children's rooms," Cain says, "so we're offering the sleigh, bookcase and spindle beds in a choice of twin or fall sizes." The 29-piece collection offers a full contingent of traditional storage pieces, including two dressers, four and five-drawer chests, a bookcase, a low-profile drawer cabinet and a three-drawer bachelor's chest with an optional open hutch. Two night stand versions provide additional storage. Two mirror styles are offered as well.
