-Capel Incorporated Mourns the Loss of J. Smith Capel, Jr.

News was received on August 4 that J. Smith Capel, Jr., 39, passed away while on a business trip in India.
Mr. Capel was Director of Imports and Overseas Business for Capel, Inc. and had served in that position since 1985. He was a member of the Young Presidents Organization and served on the Board of The Land Trust of Central North Carolina. He was a member of the Order of the Cross and Chalice, a business honor society at North Carolina State University. Mr. Capel was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mr. Capel is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Warren Capel, and four children, Anna, Duke, Frances, and Olivia; his father, Jesse Smith Capel, mother, Julianne Boone Capel; and three sisters, Mary Clara Capel, Julianne Capel Hoell, and Kea Capel Meacham.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mr. Capel’s memory to the “J. Smith Capel, Jr. Charitable Trust,” The North Carolina Community Foundation, P. O. Box 2828, Raleigh, North Carolina, 27602.
